Hands for Berth

Volunteer crew from America to Europe on a carbon neutral round-the-world journey

trail_bikeUS_sailing

Three Europeans (2 male + 1 female from Austria and Germany) looking for a berth across the Atlantic to sail from the eastern America to Europe during the summer or fall of 2017. Two of us are cycling cross America from SF to NY and will continue going east from Europe, traveling without fossil fuels. The third is a passionate sailor who would like to join for the nautical part.

All of us have sailing experience – one male has a Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate, the other one has a Coastal Certificate, and the female has coastal cruising and delivery experience. To stay light and efficient we plan to ship the bicycles and a lot of our gear separately so we can board with minimal stuff. If you know of any boats crossing the Atlantic toward the Azores, Bermuda, or directly to any European destination, please leave a reply below this message and or give them our email address away(at)edes.at. We will work our way across by participating in boat preparation, watches, galley work, and so on.

We are fit, fun, and safe people, and we speak good English since we have traveled, worked and lived in English for several years before this trip. Please get in touch with us with any questions or comments, and do not hesitate to forward this information to other sailors or clubs that might need hands.

To reach a port we must set sail – sail, not tie at anchor – sail, not drift. Franklin D. Roosevelt
